Stupid donkey?

The domestic donkey probably descends from the Nubian wild ass. Depending on the breed, domestic donkeys can reach a height of 80-150cm and a weight of 100-350kg.

The eel line and the so-called shoulder cross are typical of their appearance.

Donkey mares live sociably in herds with their foals. These herds are led by a lead mare. Stallions live solitary lives near the females.

The saying "you stupid donkey" unfortunately does not fit the donkey's true disposition at all.

Donkeys are originally found in regions where the terrain is mostly impassable. If, like a horse, the donkey were to flee forwards quickly in the face of danger, one wrong step could cost it its life. For this reason, donkeys first react to a potential threat by standing still.

Donkeys mainly feed on dry grasses, herbs and shrubs.

Donkeys can reach a proud age of up to 40 years.
